Falcon Victory by Carla

If I could, I would cheer from the bleachers at every Bowling Green football game.  Unfortunately, I could not be in Ann Arbor to see my team play Michigan today.  I doubt I’ll make many away games.  Fortunately—or in that case, unfortunately—there will always be someone to tell me the score.  Michigan might have conquered us, but Marshall had no such luck last weekend.  The home opener was a pretty awesome display.  I got a glimpse of the fierce school spirit students and alumni can muster when everyone whipped out the orange and brown last Saturday.

Some Relationship Advice by Rebecca

This weekend has been pretty laid back so far. A lot of the girls on my floor have gone home for the weekend. Last night, I hung out with my friend Makenzie for a little while and then we headed over to Active Christians Today because they were having a (FREE!) cookout. What college student in their right mind would turn down free food? It got really cold last night, so Makenzie and I didn’t stay long. I met some people who thought it was crazy that I got to blog for BG, they were so jealous!

More Than a Face in the Crowd by Demetrius

It’s a little overwhelming when you enter college. I have been here at BGSU for about five weeks now, and it just dawned on me that in this such short amount of time, I have made a name for myself.

Major Choice by Daniel

It wasn’t long ago that I was questioning my choice in major. Then something happened that made me realize I had chosen the perfect major for myself.

PCC at the Zoo by Rebecca

I am in a learning community called Partners in Context and Community (PCC). The focus of PCC is to train future teachers on how to teach in an urban environment. I really enjoy PCC because I get to meet people with similar career goals as mine and it gives me 50 hours of field experience per semester, which is a good amount – for a freshman especially. A requirement of PCC is that each student has to attend one professional development event per semester.

Friends Becoming Family by Brittany

When I moved to college, there were many things I was worried about. I was altogether very nervous to be uprooting my life and starting over. I knew that the near future was very uncertain and it could end up being great, or not so great. I had heard so many horror stories about roommates and even had some friends that had dropped out their first years of college. I didn’t want to be a part of either of those possible situations.

Laughter as Medicine by Carla

This past week, resident advisors in my hall put on a karaoke night. I had not been to one before.  Being honest, I don’t sing, so karaoke is something I artfully avoid. However, it fell on a Thursday night, and my typical Thursday night routine is limited to laundry and reviewing. With nothing to lose, I sold a few friends on the idea and hit the lounge to watch Harshman residents sing karaoke.

Decisions by Rebecca

This week has been rough for me. I am an Early Childhood Education major and I was going to also attempt a minor in German. My German course this semester proved to be harder than I had expected, and I decided to drop it. It was a hard decision in the first place to try to drop it, but I am also considering not minoring in German because it will give me the opportunity to graduate a semester early.

Independence by Daniel

The first time I realized I had become independent was at the very end of move-in day.

Cold Season by Rebecca

Is it me, or has cold and flu season come much earlier this year? I feel like everyone around me is sick. A girl in my hall was in the hospital on Friday for a respiratory infection! I’m fighting off something myself. Everything spreads quickly down the hall. This cold that’s going on has spread down the floor faster than gossip spreads. It’s times like these when the shuttles really come in handy. When you’re sick and you don’t have a car or don’t want to walk all the way to the other side of the world to get your car from Lot 12 (luckily there’s an on-campus shuttle that goes there, or I’d never drive my car anywhere!) you can take the off campus shuttle to Wal-Mart. My friends Morgan and Leah had to go there the other night to pick up Nyquil.
