If you don’t try your best in classes, it is a waste of time and money.
Now that you’ve had a week of classes, you may be feeling overwhelmed. It is a lot to take in. You are trying to adjust to living on your own and make a social life for yourself.
BUT now that classes have started, it is important to make classes a No.1 priority. I’m not saying don’t have fun, BUT you are going to school for a reason, and if you don’t try your best in classes, it is frankly a waste of time and money.
While you are going to classes and professors are outlining the guidelines for the course, don’t just sit and listen. Look through your syllabus. Highlight the major things you need to remember, which will mostly be when projects and work are due.
After class, go back to your room, or find a quiet place on campus, and look through your syllabuses, (syllabi I guess is the correct term for multiples), and write down when things are due in your planner. This way you can look up what is due the upcoming week and plan your social life around how many tests you have, or what projects are due.
It is never fun to realize at the last minute that you have a five-page paper due the next day, AND it’s already 10 o’clock at night, and you haven’t started.
DON’T PROCRASTINATE! It will stress you out more than necessary and will drive you crazy. I know some people work better under pressure. I don’t! Everybody has a breaking point, though.
Try to stay as organized as possible, and don’t sweat the small stuff. You will figure out soon enough which classes you need to work the hardest for, and which ones come easily to you. Figure out how to best balance social life with school, which can be difficult. BUT it is possible, I promise! You will enjoy school more and be a lot happier throughout the year. Keep these simple tips in mind throughout the weeks to come.
Good luck everybody! You’ll do great!
