the 210546246578654234 Blog.
Today is out final blog. Spend some time reflecting on the blogs throughout the semester. Do you think they were a useful writing space? Would you like to use them in other classes in the future? Would you like to use them more personally? How have they helped you see writing differently?
Blogs were a helpful and new way of writing. I personally would not use them personally because I don’t love the idea of my personal writings being on the Internet. I had one in High school (Xanga), and it is fun to look back on them today and read them. I also use blogs in my Spanish class. For class reasons, they are a useful tool, however they get repetitive. I do believe we blogged about what we think about literacy/technology 5+ times. Maybe a blog a week, but a hw blog would be more effective. It has helped me see writing differently because it is a form of wirting I have not used in the past. It is also helpful to read other peoples blogs to get ideas/different perspectives.

1. Is the extra information I included (powerpoint “about me”) not relevant/effective?
2. What are the weaknesses of my organization and/or overall appearance?
3. Any spelling or grammar errors?
4. Should more be added to my related work?
5. Should I gear this resume more toward a specific field?

—–>how your view of literacy is and has changed in this class.
This class has broadenedmy view of what literacy involves, like all the different types, like technology. It is interesting to see how literacy affects to many areas of our lives and will continue to, in any area of study we choose. This class has made it clear how important strong literacy skills are, not just for writing papers in an English class.
This class has built upon my literacy skills that I will continue to use through the rest of my schooling, and there after.

For my portfolio, I will create a seperate page for each project: PSA, literacy narrative, visual narrative, rhetorical analysis, Resume/Cover Letter/Reflection. The revisions, reflections and introductions will be under each page. The pages are situated to the right hand side of the page
Intro to portfolio: I would like the introdcution to come up when you come to my page. For each page I want the introduction to come first, then the project, then reflections and/or revisions. I may do my intro in a powerpoint form, if we figure out how to. Also, I am not sure yet because I am not sure what my introduction will include.

Some issues that came up were organization, best use of action verbs for skills, and important aspects to be included on the cover letter, also overall consistancy.
The feedback I got back was good: my objective is clear, I used strong action words, good display of qualifications, strong background working with children. descriptions of skills and related work rather than a list.

Currently I am just struggling with targeting my cover letter and resume to my particular employer. Also just making it overall as strong as possible with the right words and interest specified, With enough detail, but not so much that its overpowering.
I plan to overcome these problems by using the resources provided in class and comparing the job description to my resume and cover letter.

My job ad is for Big Brothers/Big Sisters: Bowl For Kids Sake Intern. It has the position description, criteria, the job function, and hours. This is important in the ad for people to see what is expected of them. I will meet these issues because I am a communication major and have the skills to do so. I am eligible and have background experience. For example, writing PSA’s, which I am pretty much and expert on at this point.
Big Brothers, Big Sisters is a mentoring program for children. The desired qualifications and skills are someone studying Arts and Sciences, is organized, personale, knowledge of writing a PSA and press releases, and can bring a creative aspect to the company. The company values children and offering them a better future.
