I think your proposal is fine. I really like the idea of including some examples of your work and/or letters of recommendation. I think that’s a smart idea, especially as you start looking for jobs.
As for your questions, depending on which program you use will depend on how you include your samples of work. I’m not familiar with Visual CV but if you use that we’ll figure it out together. As for Google Pages, it’s really easy and I can show you. Also, you can show documents (from Google Docs) within the website if you want — you could also just attach sample Word/Excel/etc. documents into a Google Page.
