Joe Faykosh presented as part of Phi Alpha Theta’s Professionalism Forum series, titled “So, You Want to Present at a Conference?” on Thursday, October 2nd in the History Conference Room. He outlined strategies for finding the right conference, writing an abstract, crafting a seminar paper or idea into a conference paper, preparing a presentation, and gave “Dos and Don’ts” for conference presentations. Dr. Scott Martin also provided ideas from his experiences reading abstracts and gave helpful tips for students thinking about conference presentations.

Phi Alpha Theta is the history honorary at BGSU. Currently, they have two series of Forums on Graduate Research and Professionalism, with sessions intended to cover a variety of topics that are important to graduate students. Faykosh is an ABD Doctoral student, working on a dissertation on the Democratic Party of the 1920s and the Franklin Roosevelt Circular Letter of 1924.
