Wireless mics for classroom amplification

The microphones used in the past to amplify the instructor’s voice in BGSU classrooms have all been removed to limit COVID spread and ITS/CTS may no longer circulate them to individuals. Fortunately for EDHD faculty, my office circulates mics for this purpose. They work very well and are being used in classrooms located in Education, Eppler, Olscamp, Math Science and others across campus.

Hybrid teaching equipment for PEHE

A professor in EDHD’s Physical Education Health Education program asked me to provide equipment for hybrid classes held in one of the Eppler gymnasiums. It needed to be compact, portable, and wireless for use with Canvas and Zoom. Here’s what I put together with existing items circulated by the TRC:

BGSU Google Classroom Roles

With BGSU managed Google accounts, we want our student teachers to have roles in the system as both a student and a teacher. The first time they are logged in and select the Classroom app they will see the window below. At this point they need to select “I’m a teacher”. This will give them the ability to both create and join classes while using the account. Keep in mind this selection will be in effect for the entire lifetime of the account, not just your class.

Getting started with Microsoft Teams

Teams is a great platform for BGSU collaboration, communication, file sharing, and productivity. I created this document to provide an introduction.

Document camera recommendations for remote learning

The link below shows the document camera my office has circulated the past several years. There are 4 in our inventory but they are no longer for sale from the manufacturer. We have them set up for use with a projector or screen with a HDMI connection. But it also has a USB port that can connect directly to a computer after some software is installed. It can then be used to share content in Webex or Zoom.

Does BGSU have any web based options for forms and calendars?

Many people use Doodle Poll to find common availability.
https://doodle.com/free-poll

There is an Office 365 version of Doodle Poll but I’ve never seen anyone on campus use it. People probably don’t know it is available and I’ve never used it. I intend to try it out the next time I have this need.
https://findtime.microsoft.com/

If everyone had their Outlook calendar you could just use scheduling assistant.

To help make my student staff schedule, I had them submit availability in Qualtrics. https://bgsu.qualtrics.com

Here is a screen shot showing a Qualtrics question type called text entry that contains a form with 6 fields.

Question submitted by EDHD’s Project Impact.
