Joe Faykosh, a Ph.D. candidate in the Graduate Program in Policy History at BGSU, recently presented at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte History Forum, held on March 14-15.

Faykosh presented his paper, titled “A Party in Peril: Franklin D. Roosevelt and the Democratic Party of the 1920s” on a panel titled “Franklin D. Roosevelt and Political Peril,” chaired by Dr. James Hogue. Faykosh will also be presenting at the University of Cincinnati’s Queen City History Colloquium on April 11th.

Dr. Beth Griech-Polelle will be chairing a panel at the American Society of Church History conference, held in Oxford England and hosted by Harcourt Hills College April 4-5. The conference is titled “Migration and Mission in Christian History.”

Dr. Griech-Polelle will chair a panel titled “German Catholicism and the Nazi Regime: Negotiating the Borders.” For more on Dr. Griech-Polelle’s scholarship and teaching, please visit her faculty page.

Mike Kniesel, Lisa Lamson, and Megan Cross all participated in Central Michigan’s International Graduate Historical Studies Conference March 28-29th. All three are Master’s students in the Graduate Program in Policy History at BGSU, recently completing their theses. The conference was titled “Relocating History, Repositioning the Past.”

Kniesel’s paper was titled “‘So Satan hath his Mysteries to bring us to Eternal Ruine:” Satan as Provocateur in Puritan Ministers’ Writings, 1684-1702.” Lamson’s paper was titled “‘Strange Flesh’ in the City on the Hill: Early Massachusetts Sodomy Laws and Puritan Spiritual Anxiety, 1629-1699.” Cross’ paper was titled “Formulas for Cultural Success: Behavioral Prescriptions in Early American Translations of Perrault’s Classic Fairy Tales.”

Dustin McLochlin, a Ph.D. candidate in the Graduate Program in Policy History at BGSU, presents at the Annual Midwest Labor and Working-Class History Colloquium hosted by the University of Illinois at Chicago on April 4-5. The colloquium is titled “Resistance and Remembrance: Collective Identities and the Uses of History.”

McLochlin’s paper is titled “Immigration Reform and the Great Society: The Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965 and the Demise of the Bracero Program” on a panel titled “Controlling Borders, Controlling Workers,” chaired by Dr. Alison Orton.
