Editor and Publisher, the authoritative journal on the newspaper industry, invited senior Will Channell to answer the question “Does the FAA’s ban on drone journalism violate the First Amendment?”
Channell, a multi-platform journalism major, was completing his summer internship at the Marysville Journal Tribune, when he got a call to submit an opinion piece for the journal’s Critical Thinking feature.
“This was very hard to write,” Channell said. “It is a multi-faceted issue and I only had 300 words.
Many of the legalities surrounding this new technology have yet to be hammered out. “There is a lot of ground you can cover on the issue,” he said.
