INt. Office – DAY

CLOSE ON:

A Pencil on top of a notebook is working late at night to finish up some work that he has put off until the last minute. He is very tired and groggy, but still determined to get his work done.

As he is working, the tip of his pencil suddenly snaps off. He looks at his tip in disappointment, and begins looking around the desk for a solution.

CAMERA ROTATES:

FOCUS SHARPENER:

He spots an electric sharpener on the other side of the desk and begins to make his way over to it.

CUT TO SHARPENER:

The pencil bends his tip from behind his head and attempts to place it in the sharpener, but is surprised when the sharpener nudges away.

He repeatedly attempts to sharpen his tip with no result. He becomes angry at the sharpener and decides to throw himself at the sharpener and hope for the best.

He throws himself into the sharpener, but the sharpener has other plans for the pencil. The pencil is furiously spun in the sharpener and eventually launched across the desk.

CUT TO PENCIL LAYING ON GROUND:

The pencil slowly pulls himself to his feet. He is somewhat dazed from the fall. He reaches towards his head to find that the tip has been sharpened, but his head has been reduced to a tiny nub.

The pencil is sad and decides that he still must finish his work.

CUT TO CLOSE ON NOTEBOOK:

He attempts to write with his new tip and is surprised to see that still works just as well as before. Now, instead of bending his long tip towards the paper, he must stand on his hands to write.
