The Toledo Museum of Art is a museum that everyone and anyone can go to. It was built and created to be a place for everyone, not just the rich and prestige. This museum holds various pieces of art from varies parts in time. It has a large section for modern art and a wonderful selection for classical pieces of art.

2.)  Use the section below to write a well-structured paragraph focusing on your personal critical insight / response to the event.  How did you interpret or react to what was presented to you?

While at the art museum my tour group was taken back into the back of the museum into a room that led to the Peristyle Theatre hall. This hall will take your breath away and you will feel almostt as if you have walked into some place holy. The theatre is dedicated to Mrs. Libby, one of the founders of the art museum, and holds parts of roman art and architecture, greek, and architecture from the colloseum. This place has been used for years and still has its original seats. Each of which have been taken care of with love and compassion. The theatre has held concerts, graduations, parties and anything else you can imagine as a way to branch the community together in different aspects of the world.

3.)  What information, ideas, images, etc. most impressed you and why?

I enjoy going to the art museum and watching the demenstrations that are always held in the glass building across the street. The frist time I ever went I saw a man create a large glass fish before my eyes, complete with color and textures and this last time that we went we saw another man create two sea horses. He then took those sea horses and created the bottom of a wine glass. It was just so incredibly inspiring to see the process and dedication that it takes an artist to creat something so beautiful and detailed that makes me want to attempt it myself.

4.)  Overall, how would you rate this event (10 being the most worthwhile)?
            (7)

5.)  Justify your rating in the question above:

The art tour guide we had had a very great attitude and really knew what she was talking about. It was just she spent too much time on one certain subject and didnt get through as much as I would have liked to have gotten through. I’m someone who enjoys seeing a lot and getting information quickly, but she was a tad rather too slow. However, how can you argue with having a tour guide who dances when she speaks. Oh Pualetta! :]

ARTS XPOSE NUMBER THREE: Arts Xtravaganza

ART XTRAVAGANZA

December 5, 2008  6pm-9pm

BGSU ARTS BUILDING

Please choose the type of event from below and include in your blog post

(Only the events listed below fulfill the artsXpose requirement):

  Arts Related Conferences

1.)  Provide a brief detail-oriented technical description or summary of the event you attended.  This section should remain journalistic and should not be reflective of your opinion.

Arts Xtravaganza is an event where all of the different variations of art classes and groups get around and create a giant art “fair”. This is where they can gather support for their group, earn money by selling projects made through the year, and show the community just what has been going on so far. This event is rather large and uses the entire arts building first floor and second, to spread the word of art around entirely.

2.)  Use the section below to write a well-structured paragraph focusing on your personal critical insight / response to the event.  How did you interpret or react to what was presented to you?

In so many parts of the world art and music has been taken out of classrooms and so many people do not appreciate what it is that artists do. Without art the world would be naked and drab and things would not be nearly how they are today. Without art and music in classrooms there would not be the education passed on from generation to generation. Music would no longer plague the ears of so many and so many visual things we have come to love will disapear. To lose out on a generation and generations to come would be a terrible waste.

3.)  What information, ideas, images, etc. most impressed you and why?

I loved how you were able to walk around every corner of the building and find something new. I loved how there were demonstrations in some of the areas of the building and that there was live theatre in a lot of the rooms. I’m glad that something like this is able to be organized and open to the public. It actually made me want to try glass blowing and try to do metal working. While yes, in high school we did a lot of metal work, I wouldn’t mind going and trying to learn some new techniques to be better.

4.)  Overall, how would you rate this event (10 being the most worthwhile)?
            (10 ) =]

5.)  Justify your rating in the question above:

This art event was amazing! I absolutely loved the fact that you were able to see all and everything that everyone else has been working on in their classes. The teeshirt printing area was really interesting and looked rather fun to do. I will definitely remember to bring cash money next year and buy quite a few of the glass blown christmas ornaments.
