FADE IN:
INT. OFFICE LOBBY
HERBERT enters the LOBBY of the office building adorned with some chairs and a coffee table and heads towards the ELEVATOR at the far end of the room.
In front of the ELEVATOR a BOY can be seen standing and holding up a sign that reads: “STOP THE WAR”.
HERBERT walks up towards the ELEVATOR and stops for a moment as he passes the BOY, turning his head towards him. HERBERT looks at his watch and a rushed look comes over his face as he hurries to the ELEVATOR.
HERBERT presses the up arrow button and the ELEVATOR dings as the doors open. HERBERT enters the elevator and turns to face the LOBBY.
INT. ELEVATOR
HERBERT reaches over and presses the 32ND FLOOR button and the doors close.
The ELEVATOR hums and music begins to play as the buttons light up for each floor, one through eight. The ELEVATOR stops humming and dings as the button for the 9TH FLOOR lights up. The ELEVATOR doors open to show the same BOY from the LOBBY in front of the ELEVATOR with his sign. The 9TH FLOOR has changed from an office to a desert village.
INT. 9TH FLOOR
HERBERT stares at the BOY with a confused look on his face. HERBERT reaches over and presses the button for the 32ND FLOOR again and smiles awkwardly at the BOY as the doors close.
INT. ELEVATOR
The ELEVATOR begins to hum again for a moment as the sounds of a village can be faintly heard. The ELEVATOR stops and dings as the button for the 11TH FLOOR lights up. The doors open and once again the BOY is standing in front of the ELEVATOR holding his sign. The 11TH FLOOR has become a bustling village.
INT. 11TH FLOOR
HERBERT looks very confused as he looks down at the BOY. HERBERT looks at his watch and his face turns to anger. HERBERT presses the button for the 32ND FLOOR several times. The ELEVATOR doors slowly close.
INT. ELEVATOR
The ELEVATOR begins to hum upwards as music begins again. Faint sounds of gunfire can be heard and get louder as the ELEVATOR climbs upward. The ELEVATOR stops and dings as the button for the 20TH FLOOR lights up. The ELEVATOR doors open to show the BOY once again standing with his sign. The village has become a complete war zone.
INT. 20TH FLOOR
HERBERT looked shocked and scared and the sounds of explosions can be heard. A bullet whizzes by HERBERT’S head and hits the ELEVATOR wall behind him. HERBERT motions for the BOY to come into the ELEVATOR but the doors close.
INT. ELEVATOR
HERBERT begins to reach up for the “open doors” button when several bullets dent in the doors where the BOY was standing. HERBERT falls back stunned as the ELEVATOR begins to hum and move upwards. The gunfire fades out and music starts back up.
INT. 32ND FLOOR
The ELEVATOR can be heard humming up and dings as the ELEVATOR doors open, but the ELEVATOR is empty.
INT. OFFICE LOBBY
HERBERT is standing outside the ELEVATOR holding the BOY’S sign.
