Online Training for Franchisees
Title: Can franchisees be effectively trained in a digital environment exclusively using e-learning?
Introduction
The purpose of this study is to determine whether it is feasible to train franchisees exclusively using e-learning in a digital environment. A variety of digital platforms, both synchronous and asynchronous, will be used to deliver training materials throughout a predetermined time frame with check points and goals. Result will be evaluated and measured using an assessment, survey and general observation during the training.
Hypothesis:
At the completion of training, franchisee assessment scores and overall comprehension of material will conclude that it is feasible to exclusively use e-learning in digital environment as the sole means of training.
Possible Research Questions:
Is either synchronous or asynchronous communication preferred?
Does either synchronous or asynchronous communication require more time to be effective?
Does prior knowledge of the technologies used affect the results?
Do technological limitations decrease results?
Is there a learning curve for the technology platforms used to deliver materials?
Population
This study will be performed on a group of potential franchise applicants.
Study Procedure
A mixed methods approach will be used to evaluate effectiveness and feasibility.

I chose to critique the thesis that I did for a couple reasons. First of all – I wanted to review a thesis produced from the BGSU Learning Design program. Having the same courses and foundation as the author, I felt I could easily relate and dissect the thesis effectively. Next, I wanted to review a thesis that studied implementing an educational game, as I am still on the ropes about incorporating one in my own study pertaining to training franchisees.

Title: Can franchisees effectively be trained exclusively in a digital environment?
Purpose Statement:
The purpose of this study is to determine whether it is beneficial to use ELearning exclusively to train franchisees by studying the overall effectiveness compared to face to face training. A mixed methods approach will be used to determine and compare the effectiveness of both training methods; including an assessment, survey and general observation during the training.
Hypothesis:
There will be no significant difference between the face to face and digital platform training comprehension; resulting in both being feasible franchisee training options.
Questions:
Does the amount of time needed to complete the training differ from one method to the other?
Does prior knowledge of the subject affect the results?
Would a digital game increase results for the ELearning group?
Here you can find answers to ten preliminary questions about my thesis
Introductions
Hello Everyone,
This is my second semester in the Learning Design program, and I am also a teaching assistant for VCT1030 & 1040. I graduated from BGSU in May of 2009 with a Bachelor of Science in Technology, with Visual Communication Technology as my major, and studies in Marketing and Entrepreneurship. I have been interested in entrepreneurship since I was young, and I have experimented with many different ventures over the years. A BGSU classmate and I started a digital media company called Twistup Media during college and continue to grow that as we both take on other opportunities.
My aspirations are to start up a web based company involving screen printing and apparel decorating and run that for the first part of my career, and I hope to eventually end up as an instructor or professor someday.
I have done limited research in LRND related topics, and most of it was last semester for course work and a literature review. I want to focus my thesis or major project on franchisee training, or something related, for a web based screen printing company. I have no submitted my topic or started my thesis yet.
Here is my final research paper! The foundation of this paper is my 6010 Lit Review on web based e-learning for franchisees and I incorporated some of the psychological and cognitive perspectives from this course!
