BGSU Students’ Destination Opinions

When BGSU students were asked were they would like to travel if money were no concern, a variety of answers were given.

European countries were frequently mentioned.

Chemistry major Rosalyn Washam, 19, from Salem, Ohio, said, “I’ve been to Europe before and would really like to visit Greece.”  There is no particular thing she would like to see or do while there, just visit and sight-see.

Middle childhood education major Denise Knippen, 20, from Delphos, Ohio, has also previously visited Europe.  She’s been to France, but would like to visit Italy.  Knippen wants to go to Italy, because she likes the language, pasta, and the history Italy has compared to a younger U.S.

Two students said they would have liked to visit Japan.

Erique Geiger, a 20-year-old sports management major, of Dayton, Ohio, said he wants to visit Japan because he has family there.  He’s never traveled outside of the United States before.

An 18-year-old music education major, Steven Finelli, from Toledo, Ohio, said he would have liked to visit Japan before the tsunami and earthquake, but would much rather visit Ireland now.  Finelli’s ancestors are from Ireland.  His immediate family is still strongly Celtic-Pagan and he would like to see the authentic Irish culture.

European and Asian travel was mentioned numerous times as the “ideal travel destination.” However, one student, a dance and math double major Tim Barker, 20, from Dayton, Ohio, wants to travel to South America because it is “close but not too close.”  He specifically wants to visit the Rio de Janeiro and see how beautiful the continent is.

What’s your dream destination?
