Interracial dating: A Black and White World?
Author: Kate M. | Filed under: UncategorizedInterracial dating is an issue of concern many Americans have had forever. Some have become open to it, while others will never come to an understanding or accordance to it. Interracial dating is expanding, and in fact, most of the population is consisted of biracial individuals.
“The majority of the babies being brought forth in our society are biracial, said Thelma Brown, 51.
This statement raises a lot of questions, but it’s clear the multiracial population has increased in our society. This also shows that in today’s society people are more open to dating outside their race.
These days seeing interracial couples promotes curiosity within our youth connection. Many youth sought to see that dating outside their race is something they want to experiment. They want to try something new in their dating experiences for many different reasons.
“I’ve always dated someone that was of the same race as me. I would like to date someone with a different nationality because I want something new,” said Oliver Ward, a third-year college student.
Some even believe that interracial couples tend to last longer than same-raced couples. However, interracial dating most discussed seems to be about white and black couples. We hear the word interracial, and we immediately think black and white. The main reason for this is because of the history our society has dealing with blacks and whites. When this occurs, it regenerates our society to believe that we really do live in a “black and white” world.
People who disagree with interracial dating tend to ignore a couple’s feelings for each other. People are finding people with common interests and common perspectives and are putting race aside, and that’s where older generations are failing to realize. Interracial couples take race outside the box and look at the attraction and love that’s there between the two.
“I don’t see anything wrong with interracial dating. I don’t look at race as a factor, so I’m not against it,” said Courtney Wheaton, a 21-year-old college student.
Ultimately, regardless of the views that one has been surrounded by, finding love isn’t about race. It’s about true feelings and the passion that lyes within. Nevertheless, interracial couples shouldn’t be defined as white or black, as if this practice only exists amongst the black and white community.
Interracial dating can be a rewarding and growing experience by learning more about another culture each day. Challenges with this issue will undergo in majority of interracial couples, but this shouldn’t be the factor into which the relationship ends. If anything, it should be the factor that makes their relationship stronger, and therefore can help establish that love can conquer through all battles.
Below is a documentary on interracial dating. Different interracial couples speak about:
Most of the couples are young, but there are a few older ones who explain their views as well. In addition, viewers should watch this documentary because it shows the reality of what interracial dating is like, and the struggles those couple face. It’s interesting to observe their emotions and attitudes about the whole situation.

At its core, a biracial couple is actually a bicultural couple. You have a person from one community mixing with a person from another (often facing peer pressure in the process). This might be hard to see in some couples e.g. a Texan girl dating a boy from San Fransisco. International relationships make it a little easier to see e.g an American man dating a woman with a Russian accent. But we focus heavily on white-black relationships as the contrast is tangible. At the end of the day it comes to one person choosing to marry outside a tribe (to use an ancient analogy). Close your eyes though if you disagree and see if you can tell a white man from a black man.

Thanks for the post and allowing to share your insights with other viewers. I appreciate it. Also, what do you mean by “often facing peer pressure in the process?” Peer pressure to break up because of their different race? Lastly, if you have a topic that’s related to relationships that you would like for me to blog about let me know!

I just spent quite a few hours doing nothing but browsing the net reading all the comments and post about interracial dating. There is definitely strong opinions, especially when it’s on the subject of black women seeking white men. I think people feel they can post comments and say what they really want to. One thing’s for sure is we got a long way to go in race relations. The amount of ignorance is amazing. But at the same time there is no question that I’m seeing more and more interracial couples out there.

Hey glad you asked! The reason is simply because black and white is what society sees. During slavery and the equal rights movement blacks and whites were separated from institutions and being around each other period. This was known as the most historical event(s) that occurred among All Other Races. When blacks and whites finally integrated, the majority of white people despised this. For these reasons, it will be the norm for society to view interracial as a typical white and black couple. We sense black and white as interracial because it is a cultural aspect as well.

G’Day! Blogs,
Speaking of which, I recently wrote an article called:
Ignore Obstacles – Reach Your Goals
It’s good that the world is filled with various
obstacles.
And these obstacles often make it hard to accomplish our goals.
But what’s also good is that we suffer from
cognitive biases that prevent us from taking
action obviously because obstacles exist.
That is-we place an inordinate amount of weight on the significance of
obstacles, even if they aren’t very challenging.

I am glad that this is here to help educate some of the most uneducated world that surrounds us.
You wouldn’t believe some of the stupidity that has surfaced in Wisconsin as it pertains to people harassing others of different ethnic backgrounds or harassment of interracial couples. It’s like people just refuse to move ahead and educate themselves. They live in a dinosaur past that dictates love by color. That is not only myopic but base level stupidity. Human beings are free in this country and although there are those who like to promote their hate and ignorance onto the free world, well they have a real education that long overdue.

This video IS NOT ACCURATE!!! Black men and non-black women IS SOOOOO COMMON these days that everyone thinks its normal in today’s society… Its now rare to see 2 black people dating in California which is sad… People that are not black who date outside their “race” are the ones considered rare and abnormal today… Oh, its hella true… Get your facts right, everyone…

Just look at the title of this webpage “Interracial dating: A Black and White World?” It purposely neglects everyone else Hispanic, Asian, Middle Eastern, and Native American.

Did you read the article?? The article is not about black and white couples not being accepted in our society.
