Athletic Conference Internship

At the direction of the associate commissioner (Mark Tooman), write weekly stories for the conference web site (www.tracsports.org). Stories may include features about student athletes, game/tournament recaps, profiles on coaches and other school personnel, and assignments as directed. Responsibilities also include compilation of individual and team statistics and updating statistics and standings on the web site. Work with site design, including placement of photos and graphics in stories. Responsibilities also may include Facebook and Twitter posts.

Candidate(s) must be self motivated and able to work without direct supervision. Candidates should have previous writing experience. Work samples are required. This is a non-paid position. Requires 10-15 hours per week.

E.W. Scripps School of Journalism

Does public affairs reporting and statehouse news coverage sound interesting to you?

I’m very happy to report that the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism Statehouse News Bureau is going gangbusters. In case you missed it, winter quarter fellows Pat Holmes and Deanna Pan had major stories on the front of Sunday’s Columbus Dispatch (see the entire list of bureau stories).

For spring quarter we’ve been able to increase the size of the Statehouse News Bureau staff from two (in fall and winter quarters) to four, while also adding The Cleveland Plain Dealer and WBNS/ONN as media partners.

Public Relations On-Campus Summer Internship (paid)

The Office of Student Publications is seeking one or two student writers/editors to work with full-time staff developing content for a new publication that will be mailed home to incoming freshmen prior to the start of fall semester. The publication, “Best of BG,” will highlight community activities and events and have feature stories on several aspects of the Bowling Green community. Successful candidates should be good writers and have a portfolio of work to support their application. The internship is for summer session with the bulk of the work accomplished during the first session of summer classes.
