Blade Web editor discusses Mideast identity project

Hasan Dudar, a Web editor for The (Toledo) Blade, spoke to students in the print capstone course on March 6 about a project in The Blade titled “Mideast in the Midwest.” The project aims to get a good count of the number of people in the greater Toledo area who identify as part of the “greater Mideast” and to provide a forum for stories about the community and oral histories. Dudar, who is originally from Toledo, did his master’s work at the University of California Berkeley and worked for Bloomberg in Detroit before joining The Blade July 2013. Thirteen of the students in the senior capstone course, public affairs reporting, and a few faculty members plied him with questions about his reporting techniques and working with social scientists.
