Unit 2: Technology and Literacy

Group PSA 

For the Group PSA assignment we were asked to work in writing groups to write and produce a PSA about technology changing communication. Our group decided to focus on Bowling Green State University’s BGAlert system. BGAlert is a text message based communication system that sends campus wide alerts (via text messages) about campus related emergencies, cancellations, etc.

Rhetorical Analysis 

For the rhetorical analysis assignment we were asked conduct an analysis of a PSA on YouTube. With this PSA we were told to actively analyze visual rhetoric by choosing several possible criteria that we discussed in class, explaining how those criteria are represented in the video, and explaining their significance to the overall meaning of the public service announcement. For my rhetorical analysis I analyzed a PSA which focused on technology changing the way the economy functions and its effects on jobs.
