What will English 207 do for me? In this entry I forecast my expectations of this class as well as what I think literacy means and why we write.
While taking English 207 I expect to sharpen up and improve my writing skills. I expect that using this blog will enhance my ability to effectively express my thoughts through writing. I believe literacy is the ability to read, write and interpret. I think the majority of us write either because it is required or we use it as a tool to jot down some of our thoughts. I think alot of the writing that we see is censored information that limits are knowledge capacity. From the news, to our text books, pretty much everything we read has to be approved for publishing. So I believe although some write to inform or express thoughts and feelings when answering the question why do we write, it is also important to ask what is what we write censored and why?
You’ve got a good start here, Jordian. You mention that you think most people write because they have to, but I wonder if you write anything that you want to. Sure, this blog is a requirement, but think about the writing you every day. What if you couldn’t write anything down for an entire day? Would this make things difficult for you? These are just things to think about as the semester progresses.
