Summary: Three films explore the American democratic system and current threats to it. Call it democracy contains a bi-partisan discussion about problems with the electoral process, including the Electoral College system and electronic voting. Original intent : the battle for America examines the judicial philosophy of “originalism”–interpreting the Constitution according to the original intent of the founding fathers–and its potential to undermine fundamental rights. The state of things uses artistic images of an ice sculpture to comment on the “melting” of democracy.
