New recording of piano trios with faculty member, Thomas Rosenkranz

Associate Professor of Piano, Thomas Rosenkranz recently released a new CD entitled, African Math on the New Focus Label. It features new works by the South American composer, Martin Scherzinger with violinist, Jennifer Choi and cellist, Chris Gross. This is Rosenkranz’s third release on this label.

News from Penny Thompson Kruse, Professor of Violin

Penny Thompson Kruse, Professor of Violin, will be joining the faculty at the Bay View Chamber Music Festival in Petosky, Michigan from June 19-July 20.

Dr. Kruse will also be an adjudicator for Thailand’s 4th International String Competition in Bangkok which will take place at Siam Ratchada Music Auditorium in cooperation with Yamaha Music School Ratchadapisek and the Office of Contemporary Art and Culture. The event will be held September 27-29, 2015.

Professor Papanikolaou to present lectures at “Evmelia” Festival in Greece

Eftychia Papanikolaou, Associate Professor of Musicology, has been invited to participate as special guest in the 4th annual “Evmelia” International Music Festival in Greece. She will lead pre-concert discussions on select festival events, including a performance of Messiaen’s Quartet for the End of Time. The Festival’s concluding concert, a Liederabend that will include Schumann’s Dichterliebe and Brahms’s Deutsche Volkslieder, is dedicated to the memory of two exceptional music figures with ties to Greece: Brazilian pianist Roberto Szidon (1941-2011), and American musicologist John Daverio (1954-2003), former Chair of Musicology at Boston University.
