Dorothy and Ashel Bryan

Ashel Bryan was a banker, philanthropist, and active supporter of higher education. An alumnus of Bowling Green State University (1946), he was Chairman and CEO of the MidAm Bank, served as a member and President of the Bowling Green State University Board of Trustees, and a member and Chairman of the Medical College of Ohio Board of Trustees. He received numerous honors, including The Governor’s Award for Support of the Arts in Ohio (1994) and the Outstanding Citizen Award from the City of Bowling Green.   In 1982, Bryan was recognized as a Distinguished Alumnus of BGSU.  Here, a Professorship in Finance and The Bryan Recital Hall are named in his honor.

He was preceeded in death by his wife, Dorothy Uber Bryan, a long-time benefactor of the arts programs at BGSU.
