FADE IN:

CLOSE ON:

A SMALL HOUSE,

a melancholy small house with one light on through the window. The house is a deep purple with a black roof, looking creepy in the full moon light.

Continue to close in on a window and enter through it. We see a small boy in a gloomy-lit room. His long hair flops in his face as he plays on the floor with his raggedy old teddy bear. With buttons for eyes and not very clean fur, this bear appears to have been through it all with this small boy.

The boy seems completely happy sitting alone with his teddy bear in his dark gloomy room. Suddenly, his door creeks open and a ray of bright light comes through the crack as the small boy scrambles across the room behind his bed.

The boy peers over-top his bed, looking very scared and shaky. His bear peers next to him, both their eyes barely coming over the top of the sheets.

MOTHER
Honey, I made some cookies.
Here, I brought you some with milk okay?

After a long pause, she could only assume to leave them. She slid them in carefully through the crack in the door, setting a small tray onto the floor. On the tray there were about four cookies and two glasses of milk, one being of normal size and the other being quite small in comparison.

She shuts the door quietly. The boy starts to pull himself up from the couch, along with his bear, as he listens to his mothers footsteps fade down the hallway.

He approached the plate and began to share it with his fluffy friend. As he looked up to hand his teddy bear a cookie, he saw that his eye came off. He was so very frightened about it. He tried to push it back on, but since the stitching tore out it was not going to stay.

He ran to his toy chest and pulled out a case. From this case he grabbed some glue. He layed down his bear, as if he was going to operate. He squeezed some glue onto the button and pushed it on very gently in its proper place. However, with the glue being simple childs’ glue, when the boy lifted his bear upright, his eye began to slide down his face leaving a white ooze behind in its place.

As he rummaged through his craft case, he found some tape and bandage up his bear, wrapping this tape around his bears head, swooping down by his broken eye and holding it into place.

As he looked up again, his bears arm was off, laying lonely on the floor next to him.

CUT TO:

The boy is holding the bear,

his arm is attached to his body with popsicle sticks and glue. He looked proudly at his craftsmanship but still worried a bit about its stability.

He looked down and placed a cookie in his mouth. With his cookie in his mouth, mostly hanging out, he looked up to see a tear in his bears chest. The cookie fell to the ground, as his eyes buldged, as if he were about to cry.

CUT TO:

BATHROOM

The boy opens what is to be a mirror cabinet in a bathroom, grabbing something from it.

CUT TO:

BOYS BEDROOM

The boy sets down a box of band-aids and pulls some from the box.

CUT TO:

We see the teddy bear now, all patched up with band-aids on his stomach, popsicle sticks on his arms and tape around his head. Suddenly, the bears arm begins to slide down.

The boy hears his mother yell out to him which makes him jump.

MOTHER:
It’s time for bed, hun.

As the boy calms down, he grabs his bear and walks to his bed.

CUT TO:

The boy is sleeping in his bed with his bear.

Suddenly, light shines into the room. A pair of adult hands pick up the teddy bear from the boys bed.

As she pulls away, we turn towards the door and hear her footsteps fade down the hallway.

CUT TO:

A pair of hands places the bear back onto the boys bed, him still sleeping quietly. You can see the bear is freshly stitched.

CUT TO:

The boy plays with his teddy bear once again. We hear soft footsteps in the background coming closer. The mother opens the door.

MOTHER:
I brought you some more cookies, sweetie.

The boy sits there, not racing across the floor like last time. His mother opens the door a little wider to place the cookies onto the floor like she usually does. As she opens the door, we see her little boy staring up at her.

BOY:
Thank you.

A smile appears across his face, something out of the norm for him.

CUT TO:

END
