Awww Nuts!

(working title)

Character Voice

Rodent”…………Chase Greenlee

(Birds chirping over black screen)

FADE IN:

EXT. FOREST CLEARING:

Birds continue to chirp in the background, and is joined by muffled footsteps. We are treated to a low to ground shot of a dusty clearing. The steps get louder and we soon see a small brown foot fall in front of the camera. As the foot raises the camera re-orients itself above the print and we see “Awww Nuts!” in the tread.

EXT. FOREST BRUSH:

We follow the owner of the foot, which now appears to be a small rodent through some brush. He stops, but the camera continues through the grass until it passes him. The view turns around, showing us his front for the first time. He looks crestfallen as a loud rumble emanates from his stomach. He heaves a heavy sigh and walks past the camera in his continuing search of food.

EXT. FOREST CLEARING 2:

Our view is centered on an acorn on the ground, with a blurry view of the background brush. Suddenly the brush opens up and the rodent stumbles through. Focus shifts from nut to our friend as he catches sight of it, elation spreads across his face.

The camera cuts to a side shot of him running in slow motion. Eyes closed and jaw dropped, he makes his way to his goal. As he is about to reach it though, his eyes open and he stops suddenly. The camera moves slightly to the right to reveal the side of a coiled snake. Eyes wide, the rodent takes two slow steps back, then breaks into a run.

EXT. SHADY BRUSH, JUST OUTSIDE OF FOREST CLEARING 2:

The camera is low to ground, looking at a large rock. The rodent dashes on screen from right above the camera and dives behind the rock. We see the rodent peek out from behind the rock to make sure he was not followed.

Cut to behind the rock. He is panting, his eyes darting from left to right as his stomach starts to growl again. Suddenly, his eyes lock on something just off camera, and a mischievous look crosses his face.

EXT. FOREST CLEARING 2:

We return to the clearing, our view centered on a large leaf. The leaf moves to reveal the rodent, now armed with a small stick. After he moves into the clearing he strikes a dramatic pose, sword pointed into the air. He then breaks into a frantic charge toward the snake, screaming at the top of his lungs. He leaps into the air sword extended in a wide slash.

Zoom on the point of impact. The stick snaps in two, sending the rodent flying back. He lands on the ground, sits up and looks at the whole scene in front of him. From this angle, not looking at the nut, it is VERY clear that the “snake” was in fact a tree root the whole time. Happily he gets up and retrieves the nut.

FADE TO BLACK:

Munching sounds ensue, then slow. Followed by a very loud “BLEH”
