Story 1:
Concept: Things are not always as they seem.
Premise: A small creature is frightend by what turns out to be a garden hose.
1. A hamster/chipmunk type creature sees a berry hanging from a tree.
2. Hungry, the critter approaches.
3. As he nears his goal, a snake appears from the shadows causing the little one to retreat.
4.Despite the fact that the snake made no attempt to follow him, the creature tears though the wilderness.
5.Now more hungry than ever the creature picks up a stick and starts to swing it around as an act of stress relief, suddenly he has an idea.
6. Armed with his new weapon the critter returns to the berry and lunges at the snake with his stick, only to find that the snake was a root the whole time.
(Alternate Ending: The snake is waiting for the critter when he returns with his stick, it rears it’s head back in anticipation of it’s meal. The little one slashes with his stick, but in fear it flys from his hand…right into the snake’s eye. He retreats to nurse his wound as the critter retreives his reward.)
Story 2:
Concept: Always watch your back
Premise: A hunter is tricked by a fellow hunter.
1. An armed tomato man is waiting in a tree.
2. A rustling of leaves moves him into action.
3. He runs and jumps along the trees with great speed, waiting for his moment to strike.
4. Out of nowhere, another hunter shows up, locking eyes with the first hunter for a moment before going after their target.
5. They continue along next to eachother for a while before hunter B decides to play a dirty trick on hunter A, by shoving him.
6. One long fall later the first hunter finds himself beaten and broken on the ground, with a broken leg to boot.
I think the second one would be a very interesting animation if I wasn’t so confused by it. You have to ask yourself some of the simple questions first. Such as, what are they going for? the target? and their reason for going for it? The idea of a armed tomato hunter is pretty awesome and original, but who is his foe? Maybe a POtatoe man? Not sure if the ending qualifies as killing the character, but try and have a underlying message as well.
I think the second one needs a little bit more explanation. I’m not exactly sure I can see an underlying meaning behind it. But, it might be interesting to animate.
The first seems like an okay idea. I like the idea of there not actually being a snake there in the first place.
I’m more interested in the first story and I think the initial ending would be a better choice. I’m not sure how you would initially show the snake because its not really a snake. Maybe a shadow? I was a little confused by the second one, but I think it just needs to be made a little more clear.
I really like your first story. I think it holds a lot of promise, especially the original version where the “snake” was just a tree trunk. It keeps things really simple. However, I don’t believe that your creature would pick up a stick and just start swinging it in stress relief. I’d almost like to see it grab the stick to try to reach some other, out-of-reach berried, but fail. Maybe then it throws the stick in frustration and knocks something over, and his little lightbulb goes off.
