Project One, Part Two

August 27th, 2012 by

My focus right now in imaging is collaging making textures or many abstract images.  I would like to incorporate digital painting into my work, that way I will have some experience with that technique.

I enjoy the work of these artists:

http://eydilampasona.com/  – Eydi’s work reminds me of my own, except she uses mixed media whereas mine is completely digital.   I think it would be fun to create a work like my abstract texture collages using mixed media.

http://carolleigh.net/MontageAbstracts/Photomontage%20Abstracts/index.html  –  I also enjoy these very much.  They remind me of my own and also future works I would like to create.

My artistic goals for the class are to create more abstract collages but use some new techniques in the process.  I would really like for my work to be made with the idea that it will be printed and used in some aspect of interior design. That may be a print on a canvas, a print on fabric and made into a pillow, prints made into coasters, etc…  I like art that I can see and is displayed everyday.  I like turning the mundane everyday objects or tools into art.

I think you hit it right on the nail for your admired artists! A lot of these images I am seeing off of their websites are very similar to your compositions. I feel like you have a good understanding of what you enjoy and have fun with creating different astetics with texture and mixed media. This is something that IU would like to get my hands on as well and love the abstract quality these images has, both the artists and yours.

You have a great start with your photos and collages, and I’m really looking forward to seeing your work this semester! Check out (current BGSU grad student) Emily Jay’s work at http://thelatestdream.tumblr.com/ (hit “older” to see some color work, in particular her “walls that look like paintings.) I especially think you’re going to love the alternative print project coming up.
