I was really excited to do this project because I thought it would be a fun experiment of traditional processes that I do not usually do. My in class transferring demos came out well so that made me even more excited that my digital texture collages would transfer well too. My plan was to use silk jet to transfer my digital collages onto wood and use those as an interesting “base” for an abstract mixed media piece. I posted a couple artists with abstract mixed media on here in the beginning of the semester and I really liked them.
WELL……my collages did not transfer, even when I tried redoing them for the project revision. I tried sanded wood, smooth wood, modge podge, hand sanitizer, etc… I am so frustrated that my textures turned out barely transferred and they all looked exactly the same even though they were COMPLETELY different. I don’t know what I was doing wrong when transferring, I followed directions and tutorials to no avail.
I really wish I had a successful turnout, because I think these mixed media pieces would have been awesome.
