Senior Studio Proposal

For my Senior Studio project, I will be creating my own animated short.  It will presented in the classic 2-D format, and will be no longer than ten minutes.

My animation will serve as a mini pilot, and will be used to showcase my abilities as an animator, character designer, storyboard writer, and voice actor.  The story will follow the main characters as he attempts to skip school and attend the early screening of a movie.  This idea is one that I have been working on all summer in preparation for this class, thus, I have fleshed out the total run time of the animation, and finished writing the dialog that will be spoken during it.  Overall, this is a piece of work that I have wanted to do for sometime, and I feel that this class is my last chance to do so before I graduate college.

As a traditional 2-D animation, I will be hand drawing each frame, and designing all characters and backgrounds.  My characters are all very simplistic so that I can get scenes done fast, but maintain smooth and quality animation movement.  Backgrounds will also be in a simple style with limited colors and depth.  The reason this short will be animated is so that I can exaggerate my characters personalities and movements.  The story itself is based on past experiences I have had and the people I have meet.  Being a huge fan of comedy as well as a funnyman myself, I want this short animation to make people laugh.  The story will not have an underlying theme or some intellectual meaning, but will hopefully sympathize with people in the fact that its about a certain event that most likely everyone has attempted to do in their lifetime.

My final version of the short will be rendered in an HD 720 setting, with full audio as well as an opening title, and closing credits.  A screen and speakers will be necessary to present my animation.  The screen size will not matter as long as I render in a high quality setting, so whatever space I get I would like to use the maximum amount.  Also, if my video is shown alone, then I would keep the film going on a looped setting.

I will be hand drawing the animation on my own light board, and scanning them in with my own scanner.  I will edit the animation in Photoshop, and create the background in it as well.  A friend has a music studio and will be helping me record the dialog.  The animation, background, dialog, and background sounds will be edited together in after effects, and a title card and credits list will be added before and after.

What I need from the BG staff would be a screen/project to showcase my work, as well as speakers for the audio.  If not, I can use my own monitor and speakers, but I would rather not.
