Summary: Susan’s boyfriend places an ad in a New York paper stating “Desperately seeking Susan.” Across the river in New Jersey, Roberta is trapped in a suburban lifestyle. Her only escape is reading the curious ads in the personal column in the newspaper. Seeing this unusual ad prompts Roberta to discover what life is really like for Susan. Through a series of hilarious events Susan and Roberta switch roles, each discovering what the other has experienced.
