Summary: Documents the story of Brandon Teena’s coming of age struggle with identity and how his gender ambiguity induced feelings of betrayal, confusion and hostility among residents of a town in Nebraska. Teena arrived in rural Falls City, Nebraska, in 1993 where he found new friends. Three weeks later he was raped and beaten by friends who had discovered that he was actually a woman. A week later the same two men killed Teena along with two other people.
