Summary: Wild Bill Doolin, cowboy turned desperado, disperses his outlaw band when U.S. marshals, led by Marshal Hughes, start to close in on them. He buys a farm, marries Elaine Burton, and tries to take up a new life. His men, including Bitter Creek and Arkansas, force him to resume leadership of the Doolins of Oklahoma. The gang is the object in one of the most relentless manhunts in history. Most of them are ultimately killed or captured and Wild Bill walks into lawmen guns rather than further hurt his wife.
