This year, surgeons are one of the highest paid professions according to CNBC. Their average annual salary is $219,770. If that is average, then they must be getting some major paychecks. Other careers such as anesthesiologists, obstetricions, and orthodontists come close but do not hold the top place. Although surgeons are in the lead now, there could be a drop in their pay over the next few years do to the health care reform bill. Outside of the healthcare field, there are also other high paying jobs such as chief executives, lawyers and engineering managers making between $122,000 and $167,000.
