Local residents receive scholarships to attend BGSU Firelands

Castalia resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands
Huron, Ohio – Sarah Elizabeth Bryner of Castalia has received the BGSU Firelands Advisory Board Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Bryner will receive $1,336 towards tuition for the 2014-2015 academic year.
This scholarship is used by the director of enrollment management and student retention services to recruit a high school student who has demonstrated a high level of academic achievement through at least six semesters of high school work. The recipient must have at least a cumulative 3.5 GPA, 25 ACT score or 1050 SAT score, demonstrate a history of involvement in school or community activities, and enroll for a minimum of 12 credit hours of coursework for each semester in which the award is in effect.
Bryner is a 2014 graduate of Margaretta High School where she was top ten of her graduating class, on the honor roll, and received a three-year academic letter. She earned several awards during her high school career including the Prudential Spirit of Community Award, the Cheryl Zahl Award, Sandusky Rotary and Elks Club student of the month, and Most Valuable Lab Student and Career Tech Student. While in high school she was active in 4-H, choir, yearbook, Drama Club, Students Against Destructive Decisions, and Skills USA.
She is a freshman working towards an associate of science at BGSU Firelands.
She is the daughter of James and Renne Bryner of Castalia.

Huron resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands
Huron, Ohio – Alex Danny Kidd of Huron has received the BGSU Firelands Community Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Kidd will receive $1,477 towards tuition for the 2014-2015 academic year.
This scholarship is available to entering freshmen and continuing students who are attending on either a full-time or part-time basis. The scholarship criteria is open. Funds for this scholarship are generously given by people in the BGSU Firelands community and through solicitations by the BGSU Firelands Foundation Board.
Kidd is a 2013 graduate of Huron High School where he graduated in the top 10% of his class, earned a Diploma of Distinction and an Honors Diploma, and was awarded the Sandusky Elks Student of the Month. While in school he was involved in National Honor Society and Solo & Ensemble’s District II.
He is a sophomore majoring in computer science at BGSU Firelands.
He is the son of Danny and Donna Kidd of Huron.

Huron resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands
Huron, Ohio – Gregory David Baker of Huron has received the Kiwanis Club of Sandusky Bay Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Baker will receive $478 towards tuition for the 2014-2015 academic year.
This endowed award is available to full-time students who are graduates of Sandusky, St. Mary’s Central Catholic, Perkins, Huron, or Margaretta high schools.
Baker is a 2013 graduate of Huron High School.
He is a sophomore majoring in business at BGSU Firelands where he has been on the Dean’s List. Outside of school he is the Huron High School assistant coach for freshman boys basketball.

Sandusky resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands
Huron, Ohio – Jenna Karyne Linkenbach of Sandusky has received the Kiwanis Club of Sandusky Bay Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Linkenbach will receive $478 towards tuition for the 2014-2015 academic year.
This endowed award is available to full-time students who are graduates of Sandusky, St. Mary’s Central Catholic, Perkins, Huron, or Margaretta high schools.
Linkenbach is a 2013 graduate of Perkins High School.
She is a sophomore majoring in exercise science at BGSU Firelands where she has been on the Dean’s List.
She is the daughter of Scott Linkenbach and Rachele Pridemore of Sandusky.

Norwalk resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands
Huron, Ohio – Justin J. Fulton of Norwalk has received the Margie A. Woell Memorial Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Fulton will receive $532 towards tuition for the 2014-2015 academic year.
This endowed award is available to full- or part-time students. Preference is given to students majoring in education, one of the social sciences, or one of the helping professions, such as social work, criminal justice, human services, family services, gerontology, or nursing.
Fulton is a 2013 graduate of Norwalk St. Paul High School
He is a sophomore majoring in criminal justice at BGSU Firelands where he has been on the Dean’s List.
He is the son of Jim and Jennifer Fulton of Norwalk.

Sandusky resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands
Huron, Ohio – Alex Michael Schlottag of Sandusky has received the Richard A. Jeffrey Memorial Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Schlottag will receive $750 towards tuition for the 2014-2015 academic year.
This scholarship is made possible through the generous donations of friends and family of Richard A. Jeffrey. Erie County residents who are graduates of Sandusky, St. Mary’s Central Catholic, Perkins, Edison, Huron or Margaretta high schools and are majoring in nursing, medicine or science who have a 3.0 GPA are eligible for consideration. Community service is also important.
Schlottag is a 2014 graduate of Perkins High School.
He is a freshman majoring in nursing at BGSU Firelands.
He is the son of Scott and Leeanne Schlottag of Sandusky.

Huron resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands
Huron, Ohio – Madison Hunter Brant of Huron has received the Sandusky Exchange Club – Dr. Henry W. Lehrer Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Brant will receive $1,200 towards tuition for the 2014-2015 academic year.
Henry W. Lehrer was a native Sanduskian and member of the Sandusky Exchange Club until he passed away on December 25, 1980. He was a community-minded individual, and was one of the early supporters of having a college established in the Firelands area. This award was made possible by the Sandusky Exchange Club and Lehrer’s family and friends to commemorate his interest in BGSU Firelands.
Brant is a 2014 graduate of Huron High School where she was Student of the Month and active in the Art Club and swim team.
She is a freshman majoring in inclusive early childhood education at BGSU Firelands.

Sandusky resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands
Huron, Ohio – Cody Richard Dominick of Sandusky has received the Sandusky Exchange Club Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Dominick will receive $1,000 towards tuition for the 2014-2015 academic year.
To receive this merit award, a candidate must have at least a 3.0 GPA, demonstrated a willingness to share his or her talents with the school and community, exhibit a high standard of personal control and responsibility, and be able to demonstrate a capacity to provide direction and guidance in activities.
Dominick is a 2014 graduate of Perkins High School where he served as class historian and was active in National Honors Society, varsity tennis, varsity soccer, Aim For Excellence, and student council. While in high school he earned several awards and recognitions including the ABCD Award, Archie Griffin Sportsmanship Award, First Team All-Conference in tennis, Second Team All-District tennis, Rotary Club Student of the Month, Elks Club Teen of the Month, and he was the school winner of the American Mathematics Competition.
He is a freshman majoring in math education at BGSU Firelands.
He is the son of Richard and Sherri Dominick of Sandusky.

Castalia resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands
Huron, Ohio – Samuel William Kuns of Castalia has received the Sandusky Exchange Club Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Kuns will receive $1,000 towards tuition for the 2014-2015 academic year.
To receive this merit award, a candidate must have at least a 3.0 GPA, demonstrated a willingness to share his or her talents with the school and community, exhibit a high standard of personal control and responsibility, and be able to demonstrate a capacity to provide direction and guidance in activities.
Kuns is a 2014 graduate of Margaretta High School where he was on the honor roll, maintained perfect attendance 2011-2013, and was involved in National Honor Society, Chess Club, and Students Against Destructive Decisions. While in high school he earned an academic letter and was named Student of the Nine Weeks in several areas.
He is a freshman working towards an associate of science at BGSU Firelands.
He is the son of Brian and Tammy Kuns of Castalia.

Sandusky resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands
Huron, Ohio – Summer Madison Seitz of Sandusky has received the Sandusky Exchange Club Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Seitz will receive $1,000 towards tuition for the 2014-2015 academic year.
To receive this merit award, a candidate must have at least a 3.0 GPA, demonstrated a willingness to share his or her talents with the school and community, exhibit a high standard of personal control and responsibility, and be able to demonstrate a capacity to provide direction and guidance in activities.
Seitz is a 2014 graduate of Perkins High School where she was State Championship in golf, earned Second Team All-Ohio in softball, and received the Pirate Award Varsity Softball. She was also involved in National Honors Society, varsity golf, varsity basketball, and Lifeteen.
She is a freshman majoring in radiologic technology at BGSU Firelands.
She is the daughter of Brian and Jill Seitz of Sandusky.
