Wellington resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Kaylee Ann Logar of Wellington has received the Clarissa Givens Memorial Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. She will receive $1,540 towards tuition for the 2015-2016 academic year.

This endowed scholarship was established in memory of Clarissa Givens, a Bowling Green State University student. This award is available to both full- and part-time students.

Logar is a 2015 graduate of Wellington High School where she received honors each year, was president of the Drama Club, and active in student council, Students Against Destructive Decisions, the National Honors Society, and the Civil War Club.

She is a freshman majoring in business administration at BGSU Firelands.

She is the daughter of Bill and Tracy Logar of Wellington.

Bellevue resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Ashley Rose Bond of Bellevue has received the Jim and Della May Memorial Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. She will receive $502 towards tuition for the 2015-2016 academic year.

Jim May was a BGSU alumnus and an educator in Sandusky, Margaretta, and Medina school systems. The book scholarship, endowed by the May’s family, is available to an education major, or a student who plans to pursue another certification degree at the main campus. Full- and part-time students are considered. Highest preference is given to non-traditional students returning to school to pursue a career in public school teaching. Financial need is a primary consideration. Academic potential and service or activities is a secondary consideration.

Bond is a 2013 graduate of Seneca East High School where she received the National Machinery Citizenship Award three times. In her spare time she volunteered for Vacation Bible School, at St. Gaspar del Buffalo Church’s Parish School of Religion, and helped with Bismark Senior Community Center breakfasts.

She is a junior majoring in inclusive early childhood education at BGSU Firelands where she has been on the Dean’s List.

She is the daughter of Kevin and Annette Bond of Bellevue.

Sandusky resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Taylor M. Ferrell of Sandusky has received the Kiwanis Club of Sandusky Bay Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. She will receive $494 towards tuition for the 2015-2016 academic year.

This endowed award is available to full-time students who are graduates of Sandusky, St. Mary’s Central Catholic, Perkins, Huron, or Margaretta high schools.

Ferrell is a 2011 graduate of Perkins High School where she was awarded a diploma of distinction for volunteering 100 or more hours of her time to the local community. While in school she was active in Pirates for Peers.

She is a sophomore majoring in nursing at BGSU Firelands.

She is the daughter of Tom Ferrell and Susan Morrow of Sandusky.

Huron, Ohio – Taylor M. Ferrell of Sandusky has received the Mary Fenker Book Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. She will receive $628 towards tuition for the 2015-2016 academic year.

This scholarship, given by a generous donation from Mary L. Fenker of Sandusky, is available to full- and part-time students from Erie County. Recipients must major in nursing or early childhood education, maintain at least a 3.0 GPA, and demonstrate financial need. Community and school involvement is also considered.

She is a sophomore majoring in nursing at BGSU Firelands.

She is the daughter of Gregory and Donna Stone of Huron.

Milan resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Whitney Kay Baughman of Milan has received the BGSU Firelands Advisory Board Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. She will receive $1,386 towards tuition for the 2015-2016 academic year.

This scholarship is used by the Director of Admission to recruit a high school student who has demonstrated a high level of academic achievement through at least six semesters of high school work. The recipient must have at least a cumulative 3.5 GPA, 25 ACT or 1050 SAT, demonstrate a history of involvement in school or community activities, enroll for a minimum of 12 credit hours of coursework for each semester in which the award is in effect, and apply for formal admission to the University within two weeks after the award is offered.

Baughman is a 2015 graduate of Edison High School where she received several awards including Student of the Month, Student of the Quarter in Foreign Language, Student of the Quarter in Mathematics, and an academic pin. She earned the Speech and Debate Degree of Distinction along with honor chords for speech and debate, Spanish Honor Society, and National Honor Society. She earned varsity letters for track and field, speech and debate, and academics. While in high school, she was also active in volleyball, Math Club, and choir.

She is a freshman majoring in inclusive early childhood education at BGSU Firelands.

She is the daughter of Jerry and Roselyn Baughman of Milan.

Norwalk resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Justin J. Fulton of Norwalk has received the Margie A. Woell Memorial Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. He will receive $550 towards tuition for the 2015-2016 academic year.

This endowed award is available to full- or part-time students. Preference is given to students majoring in education, social sciences, or one of the helping professions, such as social work, criminal justice, human services, family services, gerontology, or nursing.

Fulton is a 2013 graduate of St. Paul High School.

He is a junior majoring in criminal justice at BGSU Firelands where he has been on the Dean’s List, a member of the Criminal Justice Club, and participated in the S.O.A.P. Campaign.

He is the son of James and Jennifer Fulton of Norwalk.
