Sandusky resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Danielle Nicole Jones of Sandusky has received the John and Sandy Doering Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. She will receive $554 towards tuition for the 2015-2016 academic year.

This scholarship is available to full- and part-time students from Erie, Huron, and Ottawa counties who are pursuing majors in business or sociology. A 3.0 GPA is required and financial need is considered.

Jones is a 2013 graduate of Sandusky High School.

She is a sophomore majoring in social work at BGSU Firelands where she was inducted into the Society of the Flame, was recognized through the Champions Program and is active in the Criminal Justice Club and Safe Space.

She is the daughter of Mary Beth Wade Jones of Sandusky.

Norwalk resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Kelly Ann Snay of Norwalk has received the Erie-Ottawa Mental Health Education Fund to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. She will receive $2,060 towards tuition for the 2015-2016 academic year.

This endowed award was presented to BGSU Firelands to ensure funding into perpetuity for students pursuing mental health professions, and in memory of all those who served on the Board, as staff members, or those who used the services of the Erie-Ottawa Mental Health Center. Students from Erie and Ottawa counties who are attending at least part time and planning to pursue a degree in mental health are eligible for this award. Juniors and seniors are given primary consideration and financial need is considered as well.

Snay is a 1980 graduate of Bellevue High School.

She is a junior majoring in social work at BGSU Firelands. In her free time, she volunteers at Stein Hospice and United Way.

She is the wife of Cletus C. Snay of Norwalk.

Sandusky resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Bailey McKena Murray of Sandusky has received the BGSU Firelands Community Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. She will receive $1,530 towards tuition for the 2015-2016 academic year.

This scholarship is available to entering freshman and continuing students who are attending on either full- or part-time basis. The scholarship criteria is open. Funds for this scholarship are generously given by people in the BGSU Firelands community and through solicitations by the BGSU Firelands Foundation Board.

Murray is a 2015 graduate of Perkins High School where she achieved the President’s Academic Excellence Award, Honor Roll, and the 2014 Community Service Award. While in high school she was active in National Technical Honors Society and Drama Club.

She is a freshman majoring in diagnostic medical sonography at BGSU Firelands.

She is the daughter of Tyson and Elizabeth Murray of Sandusky.

Green Springs resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Clara Noy Sewell of Green Springs has received the BGSU Firelands Community Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. She will receive $1,530 towards tuition for the 2015-2016 academic year.

This scholarship is available to entering freshman and continuing students who are attending on either full- or part-time basis. The scholarship criteria is open. Funds for this scholarship are generously given by people in the BGSU Firelands community and through solicitations by the BGSU Firelands Foundation Board.

Sewell is a 2015 graduate of Clyde High School where she earned several awards and honors including the Kaleidoscope Outstanding Leadership Award, Kaleidoscope Director’s Award of Excellence, Outstanding Senior Band Member, Outstanding Senior Student Leader and she was named a Scholar Athlete. While in high school, she was active in National Honor Society, Student Council, band, and choir.

She is a freshman majoring in radiologic technology at BGSU Firelands.

She is the daughter of Glenn Sewell and Sunee Rachakhom of Green Springs.

Huron, Ohio – Madison Jane Schultz of Sandusky has received the Frank A. and Anna I. McBride Memorial Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. She will receive $1,110 towards tuition for the 2015-2016 academic year.

This endowed award was given by Dr. James H. and Mrs. Margaret B. McBride in memory of Dr. McBride’s parents, Frank and Anna McBride. Students from any discipline may receive the award, however, primary consideration will be given to deserving students with musical interests.

Schultz is a 2015 graduate of Sandusky High School.

She is an entering freshman majoring in inclusive early childhood education at BGSU Firelands.

She is the daughter of Tracy Schultz of Sandusky.

Huron resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Gregory Bennett Edwards of Huron has received the Edward and Donna (Bender) Hamer Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. He will receive $1,282 towards tuition for the 2015-2016 academic year.

This endowed scholarship was established in 2002 by Mrs. Donna Hamer. This award is available to a full-time student at BGSU Firelands. School and community activities as well as financial need are factors for this award.

Edwards is a 2012 graduate of Huron High School where he was involved in National Honor Society and graduated with the Honors Diploma and a Diploma of Distinction.

He is a senior majoring in business administration at BGSU Firelands.

He is the son of Timothy Edwards and Diane Bennett of Berlin Heights.
