Huron, Ohio – Dana Brooke Bouck of Norwalk has received the Alta M. Croll Memorial Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Bouck will receive $1,086 towards tuition for the 2013-2014 academic year.

This endowed scholarship is available to full- and part-time students, with preference given to women who are resuming their education.

Bouck is a 1998 graduate of Edison High School.

She is a senior majoring in liberal studies at BGSU Firelands.

Fetter is a 2001 graduate of River Valley High School, Marion, Ohio.

She is a senior majoring in liberal studies at BGSU Firelands where she has been on the Dean’s List, a member of the Science and Environmental Club, and a tutor in the Teaching and Learning Center. Her community service included volunteering as a stream monitor for Erie County Soil and Water Conservation and serving as a committee member for Fashion Week, Sandusky Style.

She is the daughter of Steve and Chris Fetter of Marion.

Norwalk resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Connor Joseph Smith of Norwalk has received the Janet M. Harst Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Smith will receive $1,200 towards tuition for the 2013-2014 academic year.

Established by Janet M. Harst, former adjunct instructor and BGSU Firelands Development Board member, this scholarship is available to full- and part-time students with a 3.0 GPA or better.

Smith is a 2013 graduate of St. Paul High School where he earned recognition and awards including the Leadership by Example Award, four academic letters, four track letters, three basketball letters, two football letters, and the Coach’s Award in track. In football he was named captain, Most Valuable Defensive Back, Second Team Northwest District Defensive Back, First Team Firelands Conference Defensive Back, First Team NCOFCA Defensive Back, and First Team All Academic. In basketball he was named captain twice, Mr. Defense twice, First Team All Academic, and Honorable Mention Firelands Conference. In track he was a state qualifier in two events. He was also a member of Key Club.

He is a freshman at BGSU Firelands.

He is the son of Michael and Kelly Smith of Norwalk.

Oak Harbor resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Natalie Faye Eyink of Oak Harbor has received the Janell J. Graves Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Eyink will receive $1,537 towards tuition for the 2013-2014 academic year.

This endowed scholarship was established in 2004 by the Jan and Michele Graves family. The recipient must enroll at BGSU Firelands within one year of high school and have graduated from a high school in Erie, Huron, or Ottawa counties. Entering freshman must have at least a 3.2 GPA and returning college students must have at least a 3.0 GPA. Preference is given to a freshman, but traditional age sophomores will also be considered. Recipients must be actively involved in outside activities either on campus or within the community.

Eyink is a 2012 graduate of Port Clinton High School where she was active in basketball, track, softball, varsity golf, Leadership Council, Teen Peers Educating Peers, Friends of Rachel, and Future Teachers of America and she earned the Coach’s Award for golf.

She is a sophomore majoring in early childhood and special education at BGSU Firelands where she has been on the Dean’s List.

She is the daughter of James and Patricia Eyink.

This variable scholarship is available to full- and part-time students who reside in Erie County and are graduates or candidates for graduation from any high school in Erie County. Need is a consideration for this award.

Tone is a 2008 graduate of St. Mary’s Central Catholic High School.

She is a sophomore majoring in middle childhood education at BGSU Firelands. She is a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.

Huron, Ohio – Karen L. Walker of Norwalk has received the Dudley Allen White Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Walker will receive $813 towards tuition for the 2013-2014 academic year.

This scholarship, established in 2002 by Alice Rau, White’s sister, is available to a student who is a resident of Erie or Huron counties and is pursuing a bachelor of liberal studies. Involvement in school and community activities and financial need are considered.

Walker is a 1980 graduate of North Ridgeville High School.

She is a junior majoring in liberal studies at BGSU Firelands.
