Story development

A young creature is running around, having a carefree time in the open terrain and chasing leaves. As he chases a particular leaf, it brings him to a cliff’s edge where he stops abrubtly, causing rocks and debris to fall down its steep, jagged slope. Always wanting to explore the area, he surveys the terrain from his new vantage point. He then spots an object of interest (perhaps a piece of food like an apple) at the bottom of the cliff.

His new goal is to descend the cliff and obtain this object. He tentatively places his foot over the edge, causing more rocks to tumble down the dangerous slope. Being young and impatient, he wants to go straight down the cliff instead of taking a longer way around. His attempts to descend the cliff triggers an avalanche of rocks and boulders which nearly engulfs him. After tumbling down the cliff, he comes to rest right in front of the object of his desire, which somehow managed to remain clear of the hundreds of rocks that had fallen around it. He gleefully picks up the object and trots off, paying no attention to a massive boulder which falls directly on the spot he landed seconds ago.
