Fish – plagiarism

I found the plagiarism essay by Fish to be very eye opening and helpful in understanding what plagiarism is and why it needs to be avoided. The fact that it is practically stealing really hits home the consequences that may occur from plagiarism.

Fish talks about how plagiarism is a loss of learning and I would agree. This is because you’re not learning anything when you copy someone’s work. To study and write in your own words to show understanding, that is learning.

Basically, even though I knew not to, I know even more now, not to plagiarize. It is consequential in more ways than schooling and that is what really drives home to point.

Statsky

In the reading, Statsky discussed the topic of competitive, organized sports for young children. She strongly disagrees with letting young kids play competitive sports, but i strongly disagree with her. She believes that it is dangerous for the age and unnecessary by all means. I think that she is wrong here. I believe that competitive sports build character and experience to young athletes to prepare them for not only sports, but any physical challenge they may encounter throughout their future.
