Chapter 3 thoughts

Finally, found a direct statement from the author about the purpose of the book, Tom Boellstorff says ” The goal of Coming of Age in Second Life is to demonstrate the existence of a relatively enduring cultural logic shared in some way by those who participate in Second Life, though their stances toward this cultrual logic differ.” I think this is easy to see by our discussion in class when we try and decide what is real and not real, or virtual and not virtual.  Chapter 3 also discusses methods on how Tom went about his purpose.  Tom used group interview or sit down groups, interviews, and observation.
