When I revise any paper, I re-read what I have already written. I go over the ideas I wanted to get across, each point, and make sure that those points are clear and legible. I make sure each event I have explained is accurate, with enough detail to back it up, and all my sentences are clear and concise. For example, if I list an event, I make sure that that event is specific to the topic of that paragraph, or essay. If I write down a quote, I have to be sure I give credit to the origin of that quote, both on the paper, and within a works cited page. Lastly, I have to make sure that my overall paper identifies with what I need to be writing about. The topic of the paper, then length, and finally, haveĀ I been accurate enough with my writing that I get my point across?
These are just a couple of different things I do when I edit. However, you can never edit enough. So be sure to read over what you write, and know that even the best writers have trouble, sometimes. Also, writing is never perfect, which is why we do re-read, edit, and re-write.
