Self-Reflection
Writing has never came easy to me in the long run. Each year I face different essays and different topics which brings me more and more challenges. And every year I fight my way to earning this passing grade. This years writing skills I feel have been my best yet. Some of my grades may not stand by it but this year my creativity has rose and my vocab has improved a bit in the past year. This year, I felt like I could elaborate a lot more of my ideas. For example, I used to be able to only get maybe a five sentence paragraph off of an idea and this past year I could easily hit the double digits.
From this specific course, I’ve learned quite a few things. When we all had to do our grammar and syntax presentations, I started using those in my writings and made them sound a lot more clearer about the topic. I also learned from my mistakes on comments left from the professor on errors in my essays. They seemed to always be the same mistakes left behind about my essays, saying my tone was too vague. In this course, I learned to brighten up my tone by using adjectives, words that describe items. This course was very helpful for my writing skills.
Even though I got plenty out of this class, there are still multiple points that I need to improve on. I think I need to improve greatly on research in my essays. My essays seemed to never have numbers or a lot of statistics if they were needed. A lot of what I write comes straight from my head because when I pick a topic I lean towards thing I know a great amount of information on. I need to work on actually looking things up instead of using what I already know. Another aspect I need to work on is not procrastinating. I tend to do it a lot and when I do, it really shows in my essays. When I don’t procrastinate ill have plenty of examples for each points in my essay against when I do, I’m usually just trying to get it over with.
With time running very low for grades in this class, I think I’m prepared and ready to take on the next level of GSW. The next level of GSW shouldn’t be anything to worry about with my writing skills on the rise and being able to elaborate so much better. These 10 page papers should almost be a breeze to get by.
