NLGJA Scholarships Available

NLGJA: The Association of LGBTQ Journalists currently has some scholarships available intended for (but not limited to) journalism and communications students. Deadline is May 29, 2020.

Leroy F. Aarons Scholarship Award

The scholarship award for the 2020-2021 academic year will provide up to $5,000 in tuition funding to an LGBTQ student who plans a career in journalism and is committed to furthering NLGJA: The Association of LGBTQ Journalists’ mission of fair and accurate coverage of the LGBTQ community.

Kay Longcope Scholarship Award

The scholarship award for 2020-2021 academic year will provide up to $3,000 tuition assistance to an LGBTQ student of color who plans a career in journalism and is committed to furthering NLGJA: The Association of LGBTQ Journalists’ mission of fair and accurate coverage of the LGBTQ community.

Steve Mason Sports Media Scholarship

The scholarship award for the 2020-2021 academic year will provide $2,500 in tuition funding to an LGBTQ student who plans to pursue a career in sports journalism.

Facebook Journalism Project Scholarship

Facebook has provided funding for NLGJA: The Association of LGBTQ Journalists to award five $10,000 scholarships for five years, beginning in 2018.
