Job title: Social Media and Marketing Intern

Main purpose of the job:  Assist BG Community Foundation Marketing Committee research and planning, posting content to all of BGCF’s social media platforms, and attending events.

Primary responsibilities or key duties of the job (tasks performed regularly):

  1. Help research content to post to social media sites
  2. Maintaining a strong presence on BGCF social media sites
  3. Assist in going to events when needed and taking photos or video
  4. Provide assistance with other marketing tasks (writing press releases, providing content for the website, etc.)

Basic Qualifications:

  1. Must be familiar with Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and other social media sites
  2. Must be able and willing to attend events and take pictures when needed
  3. Organization skills are a plus
  4. Must have good writing/grammar skills
  5. Background in PR or Communications a plus

The purpose of this internship is to learn how to manage and maintain social media accounts for the Bowling Green Community Foundation. You will learn how to plan content for various audiences, execute that content and see the results.

You may also be asked to cover an event in the community (such as the Grants Reception in January or the Golf Outing in June). These can be included in your hours for the internship.

Some tasks that you may be asked to do for this internship include:

  • Writing tweets for BG Community Foundation twitter account.
  • Reply to tweets to followers of @BGCF_Ohio.
  • Go out and take photos or video.
  • Attend events to take photos or video.
  • Research analytics and compile a report.
  • Develop Facebook content.
  • Help with the Grants Reception, Golf Outing or other big events that the BG Community Foundation is involved in.
  • Work on writing short news releases.
  • Assist in developing content for the BG Community Foundation website.
  • As part of your internship, please come up with one project that YOU are interested in and develop a social media campaign for it. It can be an organization you’re involved in, something city-wide that you think would be interesting, etc.
  • Please keep track of your hours so you have enough credit for your internship.
  • This is an unpaid internship.
