About Black Swamp Conservancy

Founded in 1993, the Black Swamp Conservancy’s mission is to protect and preserve natural and agricultural lands in northwest Ohio for the benefit of future generations.

The Conservancy is a non-profit land trust dedicated to protecting agricultural land and natural areas, now and for future generations. We do this to preserve the rural heritage, unique natural habitats, and lakes and streams of northwest Ohio.

By protecting our valuable land and water resources, we hope to support healthy communities with strong, sustainable economies including agriculture and ecotourism. As a nonprofit organization we rely on the support of landowners, donors, and partnerships with other conservation organizations. We strive to be a wise investment for our supporters, whether they are giving us their land, time, or money.

The Conservancy currently protects more than 134 properties covering 17,300 acres and representing some of our region’s finest family farms, wetlands, woodlands and other open spaces. We have many other projects in process including large-scale restoration projects. For more information, please visit www.blackswamp.org.

Black Swamp Conservancy’s office is dog-friendly (with 1-2 dogs in the office regularly) and located on a protected property south of Perrysburg, Ohio, surrounded by woodlands and prairie.
