Wall Street Journal and Dow Jones Internships

It’s Deborah Brewster here – I run the intern program for the Wall Street Journal and also (as of this year) for Dow Jones Newswires.
I have attached some FAQ which might help you in providing guidance to any students interested in interning with us. I realize that it can be hard to know how to find out about internships. The attached document is not intended for publication but just to give a stronger sense of what we are looking for and what might be available.

I also wanted to alert you to a few important points:
1)Our internships typically take place in summer 2013. The deadline for applications is NOVEMBER 1, 2012.

2)In previous years, the Wall Street Journal and Dow Jones Newswires recruited and managed their interns as separate organizations. From this year, the intern programs will be integrated as one program. There is one application process and I will place the interns – whether WSJ or DJN – across the organization. Many of our bureaus have already integrated their WSJ and DJN staff so the distinction between a WSJ intern and a DJN intern is less now than it was.

3)We look for interns to cover a range of subject matter, not only business and finance. For example, our magazine, WSJ., covers fashion, lifestyle, food and travel.

Details are on our website, Dowjones.com. Applicants should send their resume, short cover letters and up to six writing samples to me, by hard copy. They should specify if they have any particular area of interest.

Regards
Deborah Brewster
