Hello, my name is Jon Stinchcomb and I am a senior at BGSU majoring in Print Journalism. I’m a transfer student and this is currently my second semester here. I’m also a commuter, so I’ve never actually lived on campus at BGSU.
Almost entirely self-taught, I was really well versed in Adobe Photoshop by the time I graduated high school, so I decided to pursue a degree in digital media. As I progressed, I found I wasn’t learning anything beyond what I was already capable of. Though, throughout my college experience I received a lot of compliments on my writing, which was always something I really enjoyed doing. I thought Journalism was a career that I could combine my love for writing with my graphic editing skills. I also liked the idea that the field was very broad, and that I could potentially cover virtually any number of topics.
I also have a passion for popular culture. I love film, video games, television, sports and the sub-cultures surrounding them. My ultimate goal is to land a position reviewing movies or video games, but I’d be happy covering any aspect of popular culture, technology, or sports.
