Prosecutors said Jose Manuel Ramirez Perez met up with Nicholas Aaronson at a bar in Mexico City. Ramirez, also known as “the Shadow,” has previously been convicted on robbery charges, according to the Mexico City attorney general’s office. Aaronson, a flight attendant, was robbed, beat, and strangled at the Hilton Hotel across the street from the bar, according to the original story from CNN.com.
Police in Mexico City have arrested a suspect in the slaying of a U.S. Airways flight attendant, the city’s attorney general said.
Camera footage from the Hilton Hotel and an operation at the bar led authorities to 20-year-old Ramirez, the Mexico City attorney general’s office said. In addition to the statement, information has been released that hotel workers found Aaronson’s body in the hotel room Saturday morning after concerned U.S. Airways co-workers told the reception desk they had been unable to reach him.
According to authorities, Ramirez will be charged with homicide and robbery.
“I wish they had the death penalty in Mexico,” mother Anita Aaronson told CNN affiliate KPHO. “He took the bright light out of my life.” Over the weekend, co-workers expressed their concerns and feelings toward the death of Aaronson. “This was a very tragic event, and it has affected us all. Right now, we are focusing on taking care of our crew members,” said Deborah Volpe, president of the Association of Flight Attendants Council 66.
