Backblog (Discourse Chronicle)

[If anyone wonders what happened to my blog over the summer, fear not, because I am back for another year of graduate school. I am finishing up my MA studies and applying for PhD programs again this year, but let’s go back and review last semester. I learned these three important things about graduate student survival:

  • Coursework is more important than everything else.

  • Professional development (conferences, publications, networking) is expected, but pursued at your own risk.

  • All absences count against you regardless of university policy. BK]

I appreciate it, Dennis. As always, I enjoy learning from you. I received free copies of some textbooks you use at Seton Hill from a Book Fair last year at Texas A&M.
