Closing Arguments Begin in ‘Da Vinci’ Case (Yahoo!)

Random House lawyers argue that the ideas in dispute are so general that they are not protected by copyright. They also say many of the ideas in “The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail” do not feature in Brown’s novel, which follows fictional professor Robert Langdon as he investigates the murder of an elderly member of an ancient society that guards dark secrets about the story of Jesus and the quest for the Holy Grail.

    Hey bob,
I’m not sure how to feel about this case, since I’m not sure what’s wrong. I understand condemning “A million little pieces”, but I’m not sure if I understand the gist of this law suit. Care to give your insight on it?

Ted, I noticed CNN reported this case as wrapping up today. Brown is being accused of plagiarism in his Da Vinci Code by historians Michael Baigent and Richard Leigh. They claim Brown stole ideas for his book from their “Holy Blood and Holy Grail” work. The heart of the issue is copyright and plagiarism.
