50 Scholarships for the 50 Anniversary
February 1, 2016 | Press Release | Leave a Comment
Huron, Ohio – In 2015, Bowling Green State University Firelands College awarded nearly $150,000 in scholarships to aid 123 students in their goal of earning a college education. The scholarships helped many student close the gap in financial need; however, there are never enough scholarships for the hundreds of students who apply each year.
Recognizing this disparity and in honor of the 50th Anniversary of the College, Ann Maschari ’74 and a group of alumni developed a scholarship initiative to help further close that gap in the financial needs of our students and to celebrate the future of BGSU Firelands.
The goal of the initiative is to establish 50 new scholarships to be granted to deserving students. Driven by alumni and friends, the scholarship initiative will deliver a significant impact to the current and future student body.
The initiative has reached more than 75 percent of its goal and the committee is making a final push this month to go over the top. All community members are invited and encouraged to help reach the goal that will aid area students.
Donations to the scholarship fund of any amount are welcomed; however, donors who provide a gift of $500 or more will be recognized and invited to an event later this year in which they will be introduced to the student recipients of the scholarships.
All gifts are tax deductible.
To contribution to the fund go to https://falconfunded.bgsu.edu/Firelands50th or contact Patti Crawford at 419.372.0706.
