Local students receive scholarships to attend BGSU Firelands

Sandusky resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands
Huron, Ohio – Rebecca Lynn Buehrer of Sandusky has received the BGSU Firelands Advisory Board Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Buehrer will receive $1,250 towards tuition for the 2011-2012 academic year.
This scholarship is used by the Director of Admission to recruit a high school student who has demonstrated a high level of academic achievement through at least six semesters of high school work. The recipient must have at least a cumulative 3.5 GPA, 25 ACT score, or 1050 SAT score, and demonstrate a history of involvement in school or community activities.
Buehrer is a 2011 graduate of Perkins High School where she received an honors diploma, was inducted into the Art Honor Society and was a Perkins Honors Scholar. She also particpated in tennis.
She is a freshman majoring in computer science at BGSU Firelands.
She is the daughter of Jeffrey and Amy Buehrer of Sandusky.

Willard resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands
Huron, Ohio – Brett William Steffenhagen of Willard has received the BGSU Firelands Challenge Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Steffenhagen will receive $1,000 towards tuition for the 2011-2012 academic year.
This scholarhip is sponsored by BGSU Firelands in recognition of the academic accomplishments of the high school teams that place first, second and third in the Annual Firelands Challenge competition. One $1,000 scholarship is awarded to a graduate of each of the three winning schools. The first place team was Willard High School, the second place team was St. Paul High School and the third place team was St. Mary Central Catholic High School.
Steffenhagen is a 2011 graduate of Willard High School where he was inducted into the National Honor Society and was an honors graduate.
He is a freshman majoring in computer science at BGSU Firelands.
He is the son of Kevin and Patti Steffenhagen of Willard.

Norwalk resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands
Huron, Ohio – Katherine Anne Parker of Norwalk has received the BGSU Firelands Challenge Scholarship to Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Parker will receive $1,000 towards tuition for the 2011-2012 academic year.
This scholarship is sponsored by BGSU Firelands in recognition of the academic accomplishments of the high school teams that place first, second and third in the Annual Firelands Challenge competition. Huron, Ohio – Isabella Margaret Rohrbacher of Sandusky has received the BGSU Firelands Challenge Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Rohrbacher will receive $1000 towards tuition for the 2011-2012 academic year.

She was named All SBC Academic in volleyball and cheerleading. She was also inducted into the National Honor Society.
She is a freshman majoring in early childhood education at BGSU Firelands.
She is the daughter of Brian and Margaret Rohrbacher of Sandusky.

Sandusky resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands
Huron, Ohio – Kathy J. Niehm of Sandusky has received the Dudley Allen White Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Niehm will receive $784 towards tuition for the 2011-2012 academic year.
This scholarship, established in 2002 by Alice Rau, White’s sister, is available to a student who is a resident of Erie or Huron counties and is pursuing a bachelor of liberal studies. Involvement in school and community activities are factors.
Niehm is a 1977 graduate of Perkins High School.
She is a junior majoring in liberal studies at BGSU Firelands where she received an associate of science in 2011.
She is the daughter of Wallace and Lorraine Keeley.

Huron resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands
Huron, Ohio – Nichole Jean Wilson of Huron has received the Ruth Frost Parker Scholarship from the Sandusky/Erie County Community Foundation to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Wilson will receive $1,268 towards tuition for the 2011-2012 academic year.
This endowed scholarship is available to non-traditional students who reside in Erie County.
Wilson is a 2001 graduate of Lakewood High School where she received journalism awards.
She is a junior majoring in psychology at BGSU Firelands where she has been on the Dean’s List.
She is the daughter of Robert and Kathleen Wilson of Lakewood.

Huron resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands
Huron, Ohio – Hailee Elizabeth Busdicker of Huron has received the Sally DeForest Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Busdicker will receive $581 towards tuition for the 2011-2012 academic year.
Established by the Sally DeForest Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, this scholarship is available to graduates from all high schools in Huron and Lorain counties and Edison High School.
Busdicker is a 2009 graduate of Edison High School where she was on the honor and merit rolls. She reiceved the Most Spirited Award, a varsity letter, a scholarship letter, an academic letter and the SBC All Academic Award. She was also active in cheerleading, Chargerettes, choir, choir council, band, French Club, Spanish Club, and Big Brothers Big Sisters.
She is a junior majoring in early childhood education at BGSU Firelands.
She is the daughter of Bill and Heidi Busdicker of Huron.

Bellevue resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands
Huron, Ohio – Shana Rose Hay of Bellevue has received the Sandusky Register Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Hay will receive $500 towards tuition for the 2011-2012 academic year.
The Sandusky Register offers six scholarships, three to freshmen and three to continuing students. Recipients must reside in Erie or Huron counties, the city of Port Clinton, or Danbury Township.
Hay is a 2010 graduate of Seneca East High School.
She is a sophomore majoring in medical diagnostic sonography at BGSU Firelands where she has been on the Dean’s List.
She is the daughter of Randall and Karen Hay of Bellevue.

Marblehead resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands
Huron, Ohio – Mary Frances Kirkpatrick of Marblehead has received the Sandusky Register Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Kirkpatrick will receive $500 towards tuition for the 2011-2012 academic year.
The Sandusky Register offers six scholarships, three to freshmen and three to continuing students. Recipients must reside in Erie or Huron counties, the city of Port Clinton, or Danbury Township.
Kirkpatrick is a 2011 graduate of Port Clinton High School where she was inducted into the National Honor Society, and was involved with girls varsity basketball, track, Spanish Club and Future Professionals of Medicine.
She is a freshman majoring in a medical program at BGSU Firelands.
She is the daughter of Kevin and Theresa Kirkpatrick of Marblehead.

Port Clinton resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands
Huron, Ohio – Caly Anne Laurents of Port Clinton has received the Sandusky Register Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Laurents will receive $500 towards tuition for the 2011-2012 academic year.
The Sandusky Register offers six scholarships, three to freshmen and three to continuing students. Recipients must reside in Erie or Huron counties, the city of Port Clinton, or Danbury Township.
Laurents is a 2007 graduate of Port Clinton High School.
She is a sophomore majoring in visual communication technology at BGSU Firelands where she is involved in the Speech Activities Organization -Theatre and the Visual Communication Technology Organization.
She is the daughter of Victoria Laurents of Port Clinton.

Lakeside Marblehead resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Pepa is a 2011 graduate of Danbury High School where she was on the honor roll, graduated with high honors, and received the President’s Award, an academic letter, a scholar athletic award and is a member of the National Honor Society. She was also involved in Danbury Caberet, marching, jazz and pep bands, PAWS club, Foreign Language Club and was a member of the yearbook staff.
She is a sophomore majoring in environmental science at BGSU Firelands.
She is the daughter of Darrell and Brenda Pepa of Lakeside.
